The Beginning
Nestled in Ionia, Michigan's historic downtown, Bittersweet Bakery stands as an architectural testament, seamslessly intertwinning the antiquity with innovation. The genesis of this exceptional space is rooted in the meticulous restoration of the former Strand Shoe Store. Transformed into a vibrant space yet warm and friendly atmosphere for family, friend and business clients get together.

From Source to Bakery
There are always two key reasons why we visit our suppliers, and both are about relationships: the relationship with the ingredients and the relationship with the people who grow them.
We want to understand our ingredients. It's about climate, environment, cultivation, harvesting methods, and much more. A whole host of influencing factors that are linked to a lot of work, knowledge, and the individual approach of the farmers. We could never have understood this from afar.
